Katy Perry has commented on Taylor Swift’s new romance with NFL player Travis Kelce. The American Idol judge showed her support for the couple after they stepped out at an SNL afterparty over the weekend.
Rumors have been swirling about Taylor Swift’s romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for weeks, as Swift attended his games and bonded with his family. Over the weekend, the pair made appearances on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
Swift and Kelce then attended an afterparty together and were photographed holding hands. Singer Katy Perry was one of the many people to comment on Vogue‘s Instagram post with the photos. She wrote simply, “I ship.”
For those who might not know, “ship” (short for “relationship”) is a term for liking two people together as a couple. As of this writing, Perry’s comment on the post has over 14,000 likes. A number of people replied to Perry by saying they agree.
According to Entertainment Tonight, fans on social media appreciate Perry’s support of her fellow pop star and her new beau. One apparently wrote, “It’s nice to see a positive response!”

The Pop Stars Are Former Frenemies
Perry’s public support of Swift’s new relationship is pretty significant considering the pair’s strained history. The two pop stars were rumored to have a feud that inspired Swift’s hit song “Bad Blood,” off her album 1989.
They seem to have reconciled in recent years, as Perry appeared in Swift’s music video for “You Need to Calm Down” in 2019. In 2020, Perry told Howard Stern that she and Swift had made up and are now “super friendly.”
Perry isn’t the only fellow artist to show support for Swift in recent days. Last week, Beyoncé attended the Los Angeles premiere of Swift’s new Eras Tour movie.
