Drag Race Sweden was just announced, becoming the latest international spin-off to be added to RuPaul’s growing franchise. More details about the show’s first season are forthcoming.

New Spin-Off ‘Drag Race Sweden’ Announced

Entertainment Weekly reports that Tom Campbell and RuPaul will executive-produce the new spin-off with World of Wonder founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey. It will air on SVT in Sweden and also stream on the WOW Presents Plus platform. Host, judges, and cast for the show’s first season are expected to be announced soon.

“Drag Race and the art of drag are worldwide phenomena that continue to attract global viewers, so we are thrilled to introduce a fierce new group of queens with Drag Race Sweden,” Barbato and Bailey shared in a statement. “As our drag family continues to grow, we look forward to watching these new queens sashay onto our screens.”

Drag Race Holland contestant Roem predicted on Twitter that Sweden would have the “shadiest” iteration of the show, based on how competitive the country has been in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Swedish group ABBA famously won the competition in 1974 with the song “Waterloo.”
