Goldberg was invited to the Capitol by Senator Edward Kennedy to speak in favor of federal welfare like ‘Aid to Families with Dependent Children.’
"The welfare system works. I know it works because I'm here. It gave me enough time to do what I had to do the way I could do it and keep some self-esteem."
Goldberg was the daughter of a nurse and got pregnant at the age of 14 and performed a self-abortion.
The next year, the actress got pregnant again.
"I hadn't been using birth control at that time was the late '60s; everybody was having intercourse," she said.
She went to Planned Parenthood for an abortion and they gave birth-control pills but the actress claims that the pills didn’t work for her so she became pregnant three more times even with the use of pills.
When Goldberg was 18, she got married and had a daughter but she became single soon after and was once again pregnant.
Going with her stories, Goldberg had around six or seven abortions by the time she was 25 years old.
"My daughter knew about birth control; she knew about safe s*x; she knew about all that stuff. She didn't want to marry the man. But she wanted to have this baby."
The actress also said she believes that God gives you a choice when it comes to marital issues.
